Kishore Beniwal — CEO & Co-Founder of Just Jobs launched an innovative recruitment platform with a mission to empower the unserved or underdeveloped informal sector in India by connecting the right skill with right opportunity. Just Jobs has been recognized as a ‘Startup’ by Government of India’s ‘Startup India’ programme and has recently crossed the 20,000th Employer (company) registration.

What is the idea behind your startup? What is unique about your Startup? What lead to its formation?

Just Jobs is an innovative staffing startup that aims to bring massive change in the hiring process of semi-skilled and skilled workers to connect them with the best possible opportunity available nearby their location and on the go.

Well, it’s 2014 when I first thought of such a platform, “While working as a construction labor and a waiter for nearly 4 years, I have experienced the informal work environment and those tough conditions. The future always seemed to be desolate for us working in the blue collar sector. Either our sector had no right jobs or we lacked connectivity with the existing job opportunities, which made difficult for us to move up in our career. Even then, I could understand the problem that such platform can solve.”

Unique thing about our product is that it is easy to use. Everyone whether he’s not too tech-savvy can easily use our web & android app, even if s/he has the basic understanding of internet. We have invested heavily on the portal’s UX to ensure a hassle free process for our users as we’re aware from where they come from. This allows better and faster results compared to conventional methods. Moreover, it’s 100% free for our users who are looking to search jobs and will remain forever.

Please tell us about the founders and core team members.

The first co-founder is myself, Kishore Beniwal (CEO & Co-Founder). I am a believer and a hardworking person with ‘never quit’ attitude. May be i.e. the reason I became an entrepreneur and launched ‘Just Jobs’ in Aug 2016 with a clear vision – to organize the unorganized, to create a platform where India’s most unserved or underserved part can connect with the right opportunities for the betterment of their life.

My childhood friend, Mr. Sitaram Madhukar is my other Co-Founder & CFO of Just Jobs. He has all the qualities one would want in a co-founder. He is self-motivated, hard-working, grounded and a trustworthy guy who’s a expert in handling operations & finance.

What is the problem you are trying to solve? How are you trying to solve the problem?

I’d like to restate our company mission here; “Just Jobs’s mission is to empower the most underdeveloped informal sector of India by connecting skill with opportunity.” Just Jobs is a values and mission-driven startup which is designed and developed due to lack of appropriate opportunities or connectivity to opportunities in the informal or rather unorganized sector, people belonging to this sector face major challenges to find new jobs or the right job. Moreover, job seekers go to the traditional job agencies which are not so effective and today’s world can afford to better methods like Just Jobs.

Today, Just Jobs is focussed to eradicate such challenges that exist in this sector. It is one-of-a-kind fully-featured job board, exclusively designed and developed for blue collar jobs sector. Just Jobs is a unique job portal to connect blue collar job seekers with employers like startups as well as small-to-medium sized businesses.

What are the major challenges you faced while launching the startup? What is the success story of your startup in your own words?

Yes, launching or setting up this startup was a bit complex as expected by us. It took more time, money and efforts than we envisioned and beyond our expectation, in the initial months, Just Jobs didn’t grab much traction and made revenue which really made us feel sad but we didn’t lose any hope.

Our passion and believe kept us moving ahead, working hard and kept iterating the product as humanly as possible in order to make it more fast, intuitive and useful with which we started attracting the right audience. And soon users were making registrations on our portal. However, we keep improving our platform; identifying the flaws in it which need to be worked upon has been our continuous work of action. Running a bootstrapped business isn’t an easy thing. But we did our best in working hard.

How has been the journey so far? How tough has been the competition?

We started a startup named “Intense Interactive”, an IT firm with a forte in design in 2008 and since then it has been a successful business. But we wanted a bigger challenge for ourselves with more scalability, it doesn’t mean that we are not happy with Intense Interactive. Rather, we have (as we thought so) achieved our vision what we wanted to do with it and now we wanted to build a more value adding business which can make human lives better, and at the core of our heart, we always wanted to build our own product instead of being just a service provider. Hence, we decided to work on it and launched Just Jobs in August, 2016. In this new vision, our Intense Interactive’s team has been going over a transition to work on our own product which has been challenging.

Being a bootstrapped business is a challenge in itself. However, currently Just Jobs is a well-known blue collar jobs marketplace in India. On May 31, 2017, meagerly 8 months after its launch, the portal reached a significant milestone i.e. it surpassed 10,000+ registered employers which includes (but not limited to) shops, restaurants, boutiques, parlors, startups & all types small to medium sized businesses. A few examples are BigBasket, Flipkart, UrbanClap, Ola, Portea, Uber, Jugnoo, Omaxe, CrossRoads, Zoomcar, and 1MG along with many others.

This milestone could easily decipher that small to medium size businesses and informal sector job seekers are trusting Just Jobs for staffing purposes and finding better jobs respectively. When it comes to competition thankfully, we are in a market where the idea was already validated. But unfortunately, existing players are not adding any value. There are still following the traditional practices, when better methods are available.

Just Jobs is not another traditional and complex job board. It is incredibly easy, and in fact, the fastest and the most reliable job board for blue-collared jobs. We are committed to make the experience of finding a right job as easy as possible along with not compromising on any aspect of the process.

What is the big picture of your startup? Will it lead to something bigger? If so, how?

Yes, definitely. As Just Jobs is in line with 2 of the biggest initiatives of the Central Government of India i.e. ‘Digital India’ and ‘Skill India’. Our mission is to empower the most underdeveloped informal sector of India by connecting skill with opportunity. And our solution is purely digital.

Our aim is not only to connect the right skill with right opportunity but to provide a digital solution to it. This makes the process more transparent, easy and fast which conventional methods have not been able to do so. Conventional methods have not been effective enough to eradicate the problem which we see as a problem. And solution to it can only be going digital.

Where do you want to see your startup 2 years from now?

As anyone would dream to, we have also dreamed to see Just Jobs as one of the most finest, trusted and respected organization in blue collar job sector not only in India but worldwide. Currently, we are focused to promote our product in 12 big cities of India which includes, Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh etc. However, we also see to set up Just Jobs in overseas countries like Australia, UK, US and other countries.

What is your plan or strategy to sustain in the long run?

We are focussed to gather maximum feedback from the users for continuous improvement of our platform but that doesn’t mean and we’re adding everything we are  being advised rather we only add features which are really useful or actually adding value to our ecosystem. Our goal is to make it easy as well as fast for the users and a reliable job board for the blue collar sector in India. We want to make Just Jobs a mobile first business along with making our job seeker android app more intuitive; and we are planning to launch Just Jobs in Hindi and other regional languages; wherein both employers and job seekers can connect with each other within seconds and for free, anytime, anywhere.

Who is your target audience/clients?

People from BoP (Bottom of Economic Pyramid) i.e. the people belonging to blue or gray collar sector of India. This includes employers, i.e. small to medium sized businesses and startups, as well as job seekers.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

The one thing I believe in is ‘Hard Work’. To achieve anything, whether small or big, one has to put in hard work, persistence and display whole hearted passion towards it. And then things naturally fall in the right place for you 🙂

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how.

I think the best strategy to make anything work is the right mindset. By right mindset what I mean is 100% believe in the business idea because many times going gets tough and tougher in case of startups. So one need to keep his/her believe alive and also of his/her team’s believe. Things fall in the right place naturally if one just keeps working hard and is passionate about what he or she is doing.
